Veg Wonton Soup Recipe

Wontons are yet another kind of dumpling that originated in China and is now adored all over the world. These are delicious, little bites of happiness that fill your mouth with a burst of flavours that cannot be matched with any other dish. While most of the wonton recipes are deep-fried, this one is a soup recipe and the wontons are cooked by boiling in water rather than frying. This not only makes it a healthy recipe but also gives it a feeling of wholesomeness. In this recipe, we have demonstrated a way of preparing the soup primarily. You can choose whichever filing you like for your wontons; veg or non-veg, both taste great in this soup but we have used a veg filling. It is a different kind of soup than what we cook on a regular basis as the whole assembling and adding flavours takes place in the serving bowls rather than in the cooking pot. Veg Wonton Soup

Ingredients of Veg Wonton Soup

  • 2 handful wood ear mushroom
  • 20 wonton
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • salt as required
  • 4 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 100 gm broccoli
  • 50 gm scallions
  • 3 teaspoon light soya sauce
  • 1 nori sheets

How to make Veg Wonton Soup

Step 1 Chop the veggiesStart with finely chopping the veggies and place them aside inside a large bowl. Season it with some salt and pepper and mix well.

Step 2 Prepare wontonsPrepare wonton filling of your choice and add 1 tbsp of the filling on wonton wrapper and keep it aside. Meanwhile, boil some water in a pot and add the prepared wontons to it. Let this cook for about 4 minutes.

Step 3 Assemble and serve!In serving bowls, add some light soy sauce, small pieces from nori sheets, sesame oil, 1/4th tsp of crushed garlic, and spring onions. Add 1 scoop of wonton boiling water to this and add the wontons too. Garnish with some spring onion greens and serve!
